🌱 Help Grow the Plant Database — Share What You Know
Our plant database is a collaborative space where gardeners, growers, and nature lovers can share their knowledge and help others find the right plants through simple tags and filters.
Whether you're an experienced permaculturist or someone who just planted their first seed, your contribution matters.
🧑🌾 Why Contribute?
We believe knowledge should be shared, not locked away in books or buried in garden beds. By contributing, you help others:
- Discover plants that suit their climate or needs
- Learn what grows well in different environments
- Find useful plants for food, medicine, soil improvement, or beauty
Together, we're building a living library of plants for the future.
🌿 What You Can Do
1. Add New Plants
Know a useful or interesting plant that isn't in the database yet? You can add it!
All you need is:
- Common Name (required)
- Botanical Name (optional)
- Short Description (optional)
- At least one tag (required — e.g. medicinal, tropical, annual)
2. Update Existing Plant Information
You may come across a plant entry that needs improvement. Maybe there's a missing description, or better tags can be added. Feel free to update it!
You can:
- Add more tags
- Refine the description
- Add or correct the botanical name
3. Tag Plants with Useful Information
Tags are the magic behind the plant search feature. The more accurate and descriptive the tags, the easier it is for others to find what they need.
Helpful examples include:
Medicinal
Nitrogen Fixer
USDA 9
Perennial
Drought Tolerant
Pollinator Friendly
🔐 How to Start Contributing
To help keep things safe and accountable, you'll need to log in before you can add or edit any plants.
- Create an Account - It's quick and free.
- Log In - Once logged in, you'll be able to add or edit plants.

We're just at the beginning. Right now, the Plant section is live and ready. As the project grows, we'll be adding more areas where you can help.
💚 A Final Word
We don't need to be experts to make a difference. Even a small contribution — one plant, one tag — helps someone else in their garden or community.
This is a space for sharing, learning, and growing together.
Thank you for being here. 🌿
